Summary of Position

The Hope Center for College, Community and Justice, at Temple University is seeking a Manager of Marketing (MOM) to join our growing team. The Hope Center seeks a MOM who is passionate about addressing structural inequality and racial disparities and committed to joining a team that gets into what John Lewis called “good trouble” on a regular basis.

The MOM will report to the Director of Communications to support The Hope Center through its marketing, development, communications, and policy analysis projects to promote a comprehensive understanding of the higher education policy and the legislative landscape. The manager will work with the Director of Communications on the development, management, and advancement of the Hope Center’s mission, agenda and challenges affecting students. The position chiefly will involve a mix of copyediting and writing, assistance with key projects related to research and policy analysis, and staff management.

The manager will have key responsibility for writing and copyediting across The Hope Center’s external communications, particularly its annual report and surveys. The MOM will track policy developments with the Policy and Advocacy Team, and copy edit and format their work. They will provide written style guidance and recommendations for the Research Team and Hope Center statements for news media and affiliates. The manager will work with the Director of Communications as a visible spokesperson and representative of The Hope Center. Duties include assisting in the development of formats for high-level meetings and briefings. This person will also contribute to the growth of networks and partnerships and may represent and present the Hope Center’s work to policy makers, funders, and stakeholders at conferences.

Essential Functions include:

  • Proficiency in reading, writing and distilling policy for public audiences
  • Copyediting experience for general audiences
  • Strong project management, analytical, problem solving, strategic, and organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate, manage, and be accountable for multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially on virtual interfaces
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint mandatory).
  • Experience with WordPress and content management systems
