Alexandrea joins The Hope Center as a Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellow at the Congressional Hunger Center in Washington DC. As an Emerson Fellow Alexandrea will be supporting the efforts of The Hope Center for Community, College, and Justice toward advocating for and capacity building colleges in meeting the basic needs of students. Alexandrea holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago. Prior to the Emerson Fellowship Alexandrea served in the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps where she worked on health-related projects that highlighted the importance of basic needs such as food and housing in improving community health outcomes. Alexandrea brings her lived experience as a first-generation and low-income college graduate to her work with The Hope Center as a critical source of knowledge.

Alexandrea’s hope: To have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful advocacy and policy that aims to make college accessible for all.
