1 in 10 College Students in Massachusetts are Homeless. More are Hungry. It’s Past Time We Recognize Their Reality

Evaluation of the “Dallas Promise Network”

This formative evaluation of the “Dallas Promise Network” evaluates institutional changes at Dallas College intended to support all students. In particular, the evaluation focuses on identifying the strengths and weaknesses of existing supports when it comes to addressing students’ basic needs.

Chancellor Joe May’s team has built a network of public schools, colleges and universities, businesses, and industry partners, and non-profits that seek to generate economic equity through student access, success, college completion, and upward mobility.

This project addresses their interest in removing the friction that occurs during the hand-offs between systems that result in students falling through the cracks.

This project builds on the Hope Center’s efforts to understand community college practices to address students’ basic needs. It builds on our prior work with Amarillo College and complements our other efforts Dallas College to strengthen financial supports.
