Jimmieka Mills

Jimmieka Mills is a strategic consultant, journalist, public speaker and activist. Raised in Oakland, California, Jimmieka has experienced first-hand the effects of poverty while attending college and parenting, including most recently Houston Community College. Since 2016 she has used her voice and her pen to bring awareness to the barriers faced by the most marginalized students. Her work focuses on elevating individuals and communities experiencing homelessness as well as housing and food insecurity.

She has worked as a consultant for Lumina Foundation and Young Invincibles, in addition to the Hope Center. Jimmieka Also sits on the board of directors of the Faculty and Students Together (FAST) Fund operated by Believe in Students, and serves as a frequent peer reviewer of research focused on issues faced by marginalized communities.
