Letter to Congress on the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations Bill

April 21, 2022

Today, The Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice (“The Hope Center”) submitted a letter to Congress supporting key programs to support students’ basic needs security as the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education begins the Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations process.

In the letter, The Hope Center urged the subcommittees to build on progress from the Fiscal Year 2022 omnibus by making critical investments in the Basic Needs Grant, Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS), Garrett Lee Smith campus mental health, and campus-based aid programs, and to prioritize community project funding requests that support the basic needs security of students in higher education.
