Bio: Michael Wiafe is a graduate student at U.C. Berkeley, Goldman School of Public Policy. Originally an African immigrant raised in the Inland Empire of Southern California, he joined the SLAC to continue his work of advocating for students and closing opportunity gaps across the nation. Michael brings to the Council his lived experiences with being the child of international student parents, being an underrepresented student and former campus, system and statewide student leader with a commitment to informed decision making and innovative policy. He hopes to continue to bring informed perspective on student leadership, supporting low-income and students of color within large systems of education from statewide and local perspective.
