President Biden recently signed into law the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act an economic relief package that provides much-needed support for students, families, and institutions of higher education. The bill provides nearly $40 billion for colleges and universities, including over $19 billion in emergency grant aid. Together, the CARES Act, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, and the recent American Rescue Plan Act total almost $78 billion to support higher education through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.
