1 in 10 College Students in Massachusetts are Homeless. More are Hungry. It’s Past Time We Recognize Their Reality

Webinar with the National Governors Association on Addressing College Students’ Basic Needs: Housing And Food Insecurity

Many college students across the nation experience food and housing insecurity. This webinar is part of a series providing technical assistance to the Educate for Opportunity cohort states.  Reengaging adult students in education and training pathways is a primary focus of the cohort, and a key component of this work involves addressing the non-academic needs of today’s prospective and current students. This includes how access to food, housing, transportation, childcare, and other resources affect students’ willingness to enroll and ability to persist in college. This webinar highlighted state efforts to address the basic needs of college students, described policies and practices that can help coordinate the provision of student support services, and shared resources for addressing students’ basic needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
