David Thompson is a Practitioner-Researcher at The Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice. David comes to The Hope Center having served on the Huskies Food Pantry Advisory Board at St. Cloud State University. In this role, he helped develop a sustainable operation plan for the pantry centered on providing equitable access to food and other basic needs support to all students. He also testified before the Minnesota legislature as part of a successful campaign to renew and expand Minnesota’s Hunger-Free Campus Act. Prior to this, David gained firsthand experience of our nation’s food system while splitting time between a small-town grocery store and a home farm where he raised heirloom vegetables and heritage animals. David holds a bachelor’s degree in History and Spanish from Saint Norbert College and a master’s in Higher Education Administration from St. Cloud State University.
David’s hope: To create a higher education environment in which all institutions embrace securing students’ basic needs as fundamental to the success of their academic mission.
